Cisco SPA504G VoIP Phone Review

The Cisco SPA504g is a 4 line VoIP phone for hosted VoIP or premise based IP PBX systems.

We scoured the web for reviews on the SPA504G, and here is what we found:

The Cisco SPA504G is a very good phone. With HD voice supported, it delivers excellent voice quality in an intuitive and well-made piece of hardware. The OnSIP team is thrilled to see another manufacturer taking steps to bring HD voice to midrange phones that won’t cost customers an arm and a leg.

The Cisco SPA 504G uses standard encryption protocols to perform highly secure remote provisioning and unobtrusive in-service software upgrades. Remote provisioning tools include detailed performance measurement and troubleshooting features, enabling network providers to deliver high-quality support to their subscribers. Remote provisioning also saves service providers the time and expense of managing, preloading, and reconfiguring customer premises equipment.

The form factor of these phones are both visually appealing and physically comfortable to work with on a daily basis… and the setup was a breeze – even for the non-technical people. I would make one technical recommendation to purchasers: these do not come with a power supply. If you are a medium sized or larger office (not just 1 or 2 people), then I would recommend purchasing a POE switch to power the phones instead of the $15 power brick.
